GET YOUR SUSTAINABLE BAG MADE IN COLLABORATION WITH the WAYUU COMMUNITY

WAYUU BAGS - MOCHILAS
The Wayuu are a pastoral tribe living on the Guajira
Peninsula, on the north coast of Colombia and Venezuela, where they
live without taking into account the frontier between the two
countries. They do beautiful hand made traditional cotton bags,
called mochilas. They are used to carry everything around because
they are very strong.
Mochilas are woven by the women of the Wayuu indigenous people.
These products do not only have a functional value, but are a
symbolical representation of the Wayuu cosmological vision that
encompasses phenomena of nature and society.
They’re known for their woven hammocks and shoulder-bags, which they
make for personal use as well as for sale. This is a great way to
support this community.
All bag items
are one-of-kind, each with its own pattern. Use them to carry
groceries, things
outdoors during spring and summer, or just to lift your spirit
during fall or winter. You can find a wide selection of Wayuu
sustainable bags and backpacks
at our
online boutique.
